Blood Secrets, Dragons, and Geese: Updates from My Writing World. Don’t forget the Vampires…..

Dive into the latest updates on the Vampire King’s Daughter series, my dragon-filled Evitia Trilogy 1, and a peek into my farm life with Sebastapol geese and cheeky chicks. Perfect for fans of vampires, dragons, and fantasy romance!

Hi everyone,

It’s been a whirlwind of writing, editing, and farm life lately, and I’m thrilled to share some updates with you! From vampires to dragons, and even a few feathered friends, there’s a lot to catch up on. Let’s dive in.

Blood Secrets: The Vampire King’s Daughter Series book 2.

I’ve been knee-deep in final edits for Blood Secrets, Book 2 in The Vampire King’s Daughter series. It’s been nearly 20 months since I last revisited this story, and wow, does time fly when you’re procrastinating! Procrastinating is one of my super-hero strengths.

But now that I’m back in Alyssa’s world, I’m reminded just how much I love this series and why writing it was such fun.

Here’s a sneak peek at a couple of lines and a tiny excerpt from Blood Secrets, book 2 in The Vampire King’s Daughter series -(in Alyssa’s POV):

EXCERPT: “The lycans are our friends.”

“You choose your friendships poorly. Vampires and lycans are very bad company. I should know. Now will you leave, or die?” A smile full of want—the want to hunt, to maim, to kill—twists his mouth.

The smile I return matches his. I lift my gun and shoot him straight in the chest. “Or fight?”

Xavier staggers, but he doesn’t fall.
I’ve missed.
Now he’s really pissed.
He licks his lips. “Die it is.”

LINE: The grip on my stake is steady. My pain forgotten in the tsunami of adrenaline keeping me standing and braced to fight. (my editor said this was an extra gorgeous line!!)

LINE: Xavier does one of those mechanical and creepy head tilts. It’s top-of-the-line predator.

Blood Secrets picks up where Blood Ring left off, plunging Alyssa and her friends into a new threat in Fielding, Montana. Once the safest town in the state, Fielding is once more a battleground between good and evil. A new vampire has arrived, and he’s targeting Alyssa’s lycan friend Daniel and his family. Expect shifting alliances, growing friendships, and a heart-pounding battle that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Here’s the cover:

I’m about to do one final read-through before formatting, so release day is getting closer! The 28th of March 2025. And yes, I’m already itching to dive into Blood Bound (Book 3).

Evitia Trilogy 1: Dragons and Seer Cats Await

On the dragon side of things, around distractions (see below) I’m slowly adding words to The Rise, Book 2 of the Evitia Trilogy 1. Dragons, seer cats, hot males, romance, and epic adventures are calling, and I can’t wait to share more with you soon.

My paid beta reader / editor for The Chameleons (Book 1) is running a bit behind, so I won’t have those edits in hand for a least another week. Stay tuned for updates! On a good side, she says the world building is very compelling – so that’s good since I worked very hard on that and I love that it has translated to a reader that way. After all, it’s the readers who I need to love it at the end of publishing day.

Life Updates: Farm Antics and Writing Distractions

Life at home has been… interesting. My husband recently had knee surgery and is now camped out on the couch beside my workspace. Let’s just say his boredom-induced fidgeting and noises are not conducive to my writing flow. Productivity has taken a hit, and I can’t wait until he’s healed and back to his normal mobile self. And nor can he.

In happier news, one of our Pekin hens surprised us with two adorable chicks, Coffee and Mango. I had no idea she was nesting—cheeky girl! We’re doing everything we can to ensure they grow up strong and sassy.

And this week’s pets of the week? My beloved Sebastapol geese. Their antics never fail to bring a smile to my face. Here’s a photo of the gang (well, most of them)

What I’m Reading

I’ve been diving into some fantastic fantasy reads lately:

  • Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros: After devouring Fourth Wing and enjoying Iron Flame, I’m excited to step back into Violet’s world.
  • One Dark Window and Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillig: This duology is a must-read for fantasy lovers. While I preferred Book 1, both are packed with romance, intrigue, and stunning world-building.

Final Thoughts

That’s it for this update! Thank you for being part of my journey. Whether you’re here for the vampires, dragons, or geese, I’m so grateful to have you along for the ride.

Happy reading, and may all your books be 4 or 5-star reads!

Cheers,

Cassandra
